吴志勇教授是国际知名的脉冲星研究的专家，2006从美国斯坦福大学物理系获得博士学位，2013年起开始在香港大学担任教职，至今已经发表论文80余篇， 被引用2400余次。除了研究脉冲星的多波段观测特征，他还研究脉冲星风云的性质，也关注近几年发现的TeV晕的性质。在过去的十余年里，他持续申请到了从射电到光学、X射线各波段运行的最先进的望远镜的观测时间，开展了对脉冲星的系统研究。有关工作也得到了香港研究资助局的持续支持。
